Physical Review B recently published a research paper entitled Ultrafast domain wall motion in ferrimagnets induced by magnetic anisotropy gradient, written by Li Weihao, an undergraduate student majoring in Material Physics working with the Qin Minghui research group at the South China Academy of Advanced Optoelectronics.


As a magnetic topology, the domain wall is used to record and store information. Nowadays, to seek for a more energy-efficient driving means of ferrous magnetic domain wall becomes one of the most important scientific issues in designing spintronic devices. It is particularly important and urgent to study the dynamic behavior and the internal mechanism of magnetic anisotropy gradients driving ferromagnetic domain walls.

Under the guidance of Qin Minghui, Li Weihao studied the dynamic behavior of ferroelectric domain walls under the axial anisotropic gradient, based on Three-Dimensional Heisenberg Ferromagnet Model and Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert Micromagnetic simulation and collective coordinate theory.

The research results not only provide an energy-efficient means of driving domain walls, but also theoretically forecasts some possible applied materials.

The research group led by Qin Minghui focuses on the study of dynamic simulation of domain walls and skyrmion. Undergraduates in the research group have published up to more than 20 papers in famous SCI journals in Physics, including six published in Physical Review B and three in the New Journal of Physics.
